Hi everyone it´s Elder McDonald!! Still getting used to being called Elder. The other day someone asked me what my name was and I said Davis McDonald. My companion is Elder Hallman from Draper, Utah. He´s super cool we're actually really close surprisingly with our opposite personalities. Elder Hallman is super social and talks to everyone and well you all know I´m shy and keep to myself. I thought it would be a culture shock being in Mexico but really it´s downtown Pasco x1000. Also you still see a lot of American things. Just last week we could hear someone playing "hotline bling" by Drake. Time flies by sooo fast here in the CCM (MTC). The days are long and full of work but the weeks go by extremely fast. Our first day here we already had to sing hymns in spanish and it was really hard to keep up. There´s so much to work on here. The first day in class our teachers were speaking in just spainsh I was so lost. But I´ve already learned so much that I can say a good prayer in perfect spanish only 4 days in. Also now I´m able to testify of some things in spanish it´s so crazy to think how little I knew at the beginning. I´m already able to understand 75% of what my teachers are saying. But I´m not good at peacing together sentences. I´ll get wayy better I promise that.I rolled my R once last week but I haven´t since, and everyday I´m praying that I´ll do it again. But again there´s so much work here I even forgot that I wore a retainer for the first few days. My district and others that I´ve met here are so cool which keep me sane.
The email was a little shorter than I was hoping for, but I'll take it!! It was so good to hear from him, see that he still has his same sense of humor, that he loves the CCM, and that he loves his companion. And to see his SMILE! He sent LOTS of pictures!
UPDATE: His companion's mom messaged me saying her son was going home for awhile and will be back to Mexico soon. I'm so grateful for the short time Davis and Elder Hallman had together (which I know to them seemed a lot longer). His companion is a great example on so many levels. I'm so impressed with him. I know Davis made a lifelong friend.
Hopefully Friday Davis willl write more. Haha!
