WEEKLY UPDATE #11

July 17, 2017

"Sorry everyone, I didn't have time to send emails last week. Last week was hard and same as this week. I have a lot of hope and faith that things will change with our investigators. This week was awesome, I got to play a little bit of baseball meaning only 1 inning till we had a huge storm. The roads were like rivers and there were parts up to our waists!! It was crazy and there was thunder that was shaking our house! It's been raining all week including right now, haha.

I don't have much time this week either sorry guys. I just want to let you know that it's important to do these three things. Have hope, faith, and do work!! Faith without works is dead. I know that as long we have patience the Lord will come in our lives and do what he always does. By these things we can receive many blessings. Pues hasta proxima lunes!! Les amo! En el nombre de Jesucristo amen!"

Taking shelter from the rain.
Davis said the road home was like a river and caused him to fall. His companion videoed the storm, but I can't figure out how to upload it on the blog.

Riding the bus
Davis said they had training in Chihuahua, which is 1.5 hours away. He said they rode the bus there the night before, stayed at the assistant's house and came home the next day after training. He said Chihuahua is so much like America. He said he saw Circle K and Buffalo Wild Wings and they ate at KFC. LOL! He also mentioned that members own KFC and Pizza Hut in Cuauhtemoc and they get to eat there for free every Wednesday.

Elder Serrano is from a city near Mexico City. Davis said Elder Serrano played college football for the 3rd best team in Mexico on scholarship, playing wide receiver.  Davis said, "He bought a football so I could show off my arm and he could show off his catching. We are the QB and WR duo. He's super happy and funny and we're always laughing."
Elder McDonald and Elder Serrano
His Spanish is really coming along and says he can make analogies with the gospel in Spanish now. He also mentioned he tried cream of carrot soup the other day and loved it. "I probably missed out on a lot of food back home!" Those of you who know him, know how picky he is. He also said they're not allowed to drink soda for their own safety, which I found very interesting.

Something Davis put in his email to his Dad... "I'm being safe although my area can be dangerous. We heard a gunshot by our house the other day, but that's just the narcos my companion said and that they don't mess with us. haha" -- Ummmmm..not what this mom wants to hear. I asked him what narcos meant and he said they're drug movers. I'll just try to forget all about this.

He loves the work and the people and I love seeing his smile!

His fresh haircut shows off his "tan" line -- he says he's actually still "red."
